Presentations from:

A.G. CoombsIntegrated MEP prefabrication: Journey to date and the future

We will discuss the evolution of offsite prefabricated building services from simple single fabricated pieces to modular assemblies before a summary of the current industry status, including current challenges, limitations and barriers, and a brief prediction on the future and where the current trajectory is taking us.

Speaker: Daniel Waack

An experienced Lead Project Engineer Daniel is A.G. Coombs Integrated Prefabrication Leader.

Daniel is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high quality offsite prefabricated works and coordinating major offsite fabrication activities for large scale projects including acute care hospitals, major pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, complex defence facilities, large-scale correctional facilities and hyper scale data centres.

C.R. Kennedy: Scanning technologies that take out the guesswork

Designing and installing prefabricated HVAC components in an accurate, precise manner with no clashes or errors is often a problem. Learn how high-definition laser scanning, 3D modelling and, incorporating QR code technology for fast accurate digital set out on site, speeds up the design and installation process for any project using prefab HVAC components.

Speaker: Alex Richardson

Alex is an experienced surveyor with extensive knowledge in digital spatial technology, making him an expert in providing innovative solutions to complex measuring and data capture challenges encountered by businesses in the construction industry. With his expertise, Alex delivers exceptional results, streamlining data capture and site layout workflows for innovative businesses in Victoria.

Neuron: Design platforms to support offsite fabrication.

Speaker: Steven Cassells

Steven Cassells is Director of Neuron, an innovative engineering technology firm that helps property professionals engineer better buildings with trusted expertise and hyper-streamlined cloud technology.

Before co-founding Neuron, Steven was a Principal and National Digital Engineering Lead for Stantec. He has worked on major projects throughout Australia and internationally.

Steven's 15 years of experience delivering complex projects and as a leader in the digitalisation of engineering design provides a unique lens to view the latest industry trends and technologies.

Environmental Energy Services: An Environmental Service Pod.

Our team are working on a solution that can provide electrical and thermal services to a building, autonomously and off-grid and in a solution that is scalable.  The Environmental Service Pod (ESP) prototype has been constructed consisting of solar PV, batteries, thermal storage tanks and a polyvalent heat pump.  The prototype is undergoing testing at our TESTCELL in Geelong.

Speaker: Zheng Wang

Zheng Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University. His research topic is about the electrification and decarbonization of houses through solar-powered heat pumps with energy storage systems.

Speaker: Hung Do

Hung Q. Do is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Deakin University. His is currently researching light-weight and dynamic radiant conditioning system as an thermally effective and energy efficient solution for perimeter zones in office buildings.

MC: Damien Crough, prefabAUS

Damien is a founding Director and Executive Chair of prefabAUS – the peak industry body for offsite construction in Australia.

Damien works with a number of universities and research bodies to explore advanced manufacturing technologies and collaborates with government and industry bodies to advance offsite construction. Damien sees strong opportunities for the prefabrication industry to set itself apart by providing low waste, high quality, sustainable and design led alternatives.
